Coole Gate Lodge is a historic retreat in Gort, County Galway, and the last remaining gate lodge of the Coole Estate, once home to Lady Augusta Gregory of the Irish literary revival.

Dating back to the late 1700s, when Robert Gregory acquired the estate from Oliver Martyn, the lodge offers antique charm, ground-floor living, and ample parking for a lovely countryside escape.

Upon entering this single-storey abode, you will be greeted by three inviting bedrooms, two of which are doubles, each boasting their own en-suite facilities with walk-in showers, basins and WCs for added convenience.

The third bedroom is a lovely twin, perfect for friends sharing.

About the location

GORT, COUNTY GALWAY

Oranmore 17.3 miles; Ennis 19 miles; Galway City 23 miles.

The market town of Gort lies between the town of Ennis, and Galway City, making it a terrific base for touring the area. On one side of the town is The Burren, a unique stony landscape, home to one of Ireland's wonderful National Parks, and to the other is The Slieve Aughty Mountains, two large mountains, providing great walking terrain for all abilities, while Coole Park Nature Reserve is a short drive away, and offers a great day out. Gort is the former home of the poet William Butler Yeats, who renovated an old tower house and took up residence there, and used the area as inspiration for much of his work. The area is renowned for its love of traditional Irish music, which can be sampled in one of the great pubs in the town. With the village of Oranmore within easy travelling distance, Galway city just a little further, and Salthill Beach and harbour to enjoy, Gort is a fantastic base for touring the area.
