No.5 Beach Cottages

WIFI PASSWORD DID NOT WORK AND THE DRYER IS NOT WORKING.

THERE WERE NOT CLOTHES PINS FO THE LINE TO DRY CLOTHES. MINIMAL COOKING UTENSILS/POTS BUT EVERYTHING OTHERWISE WAS CLEAN AND NEW IN THE KITCHEN.

No 5, is very basic,had to ask for extra mugs and wine glasses.

Curtains barely cover windows and falling down in upstairs bedroom. Shower curtain in double bedroom mouldy, oven left dirty and smokes when om. Toilets very bad to flush, cobwebs on sitting area. No cleaning products tea towels cloths. Bed extremely hard in double room. All needs to be updated with little effort. Rena, Claire, Maire& Martina

This cottage has great potential but sadly is in a poor state of repair and needs a deep clean.

The location is perfect for exploring Achill island and Co Mayo. I can attach photos to backup my comments. The 3 toilets have a poor flush and take an age to fill. The toilet roll holder in each toilet is broken. The en-suite bathroom was dirty on our arrival and has a particularly mouldy shower curtain. Both the en-suite and main bedroom windows are broken, once opened fall off one of the hinges and are very difficult to close. We only opened them once in case they totally broke. Most of the windows must have seals in poor condition as the inside of the double glazed units are very dirty. Most of the curtains are missing hooks so do not close and hang well. One window is even missing a curtain. There are large cobwebs and dead insects around the property. The vertical blinds in the living room are broken and cannot be fully opened. The hearth and fireplace had not been emptied. There was no lid for the bin in the kitchen which meant smelly waste. The chopping board is dirty/mouldy. The grill pan and oven are very dirty so I had no desire to use them. Outside there are 2 broken chairs and I found broken glasses which I did lift as we had our dog with us. In the information folder in the cottage there is a section regarding rubbish explaining about what to put in the blue and green wheely bins outside. Beside our cottage no. 5 we had a large yellow bin marked no. 6, it was nearly full on our arrival. There where no instructions on which day to put the bins out by the roadside for collection and no one else came to do it so it is now

The cottage is in a fantastic location, right across from Keel beach.

Shop, two pubs, several restaurants are all less than a 10min walk. Highlights were the Beehive for lunch and a browse, haddock and chips from the pop up van Ar Bia Mara (definitely check them out). The cottage was very clean and basic. Little things that could be added that would make a massive difference to someone staying would be tea & coffee, salt, pepper (dried goods that we had to purchase for our week long stay) , no way to clean pots other than a cloth, no toilet roll or basic cleaning supplies other than a sweeping brush. Storage heaters remain a mystery to me, shame that there were no instructions, the folder of information provided seemed to be out of date. These are all small items and with these additions there would have been less trips to the local shop! Having said all that, we would stay again as it suited our family needs perfectly. I would just throw a cleaning brush and some coffee into our bags!
