The Dispensary

Had an absolutely wonderful week here in April.

Mrs Walsh was an amazing host. Sadly, or happily for some

I've marked everything with maximum points as speaking with Margaret she is obviously a lovely, caring lady who goes the extra mile for her guests.

Unfortunately, we never got to The Dispensary. After Stenna Lines cancelled our sailing four times - which would have cut our holiday down from seven nights to just three - we decided it wasn't worth the journey. Also, and perhaps more importantly, Southern Ireland was experiencing serious fuel problems we felt it diplomatic not to go and try to take fuel needed for their Emergency services. Margaret was so understanding and helpful we are already planning to book with her next year.

Great cottage in lovely peaceful location, we did not want to leave

Exactly what it says on the tin

A beautiful place te stay.

Road not too close with little traffic. Lovely area to sit outside and facing the sun all day. Idyllic setting. Near beaches and lovely places to visit

We had a difficult journey there from England via ferry, but the owners were very understanding and on arrival had provided ingredients for breakfast inc homemade jam and bread.

Brilliant as we had no time to shop and were exhausted. A perfect start to the holiday once we arrived. The owners were lovely. The place is very comfortable and we slept so well. The area is lovely and so are the local people. We would most certainly recommend people visit here. We left completely rested at the end of our holiday and were sad to leave. If we are in the area again we would love to go back.

We arrived around 9pm in the rain to be met by the lovely owner Margaret.

Margaret gave us a brief overview of the cottage and let us know about the generous breakfast provisions and home baked loaf jam and butter. The cottage is cosy and well equipped, Inch is a quiet little village but within easy access to every part of Cork that we had interest in visiting. We took our little dachshund who immediately relaxed at the dispensary which says a lot! I knew the owners were at hand if needed which was comforting, but they don't impose on you at all. The day before checking out I popped by to discuss leaving keys etc and had a lovely chat with Margaret and John in there beautiful home, Margaret even gave me a parting gift of a Christmas cake that she had baked. The kindness and hospitality from them is second to none. Thank you so much. Hope our paths cross again one day.

Peaceful, relaxing time at the cottage.

Margaret is the perfect host leaving a beautiful breakfast for guests. Cottage is fairly close to all amenities and for sightseeing in the area. ❤️

Compared to "normal" dwellings, it was a novelty ,everything under one roof.

Margaret was a smashing hostess.

A really lovely cottage, very well equipped and comfortable.

Very peaceful location but accessible to lots of towns and villages. Had a great two weeks.

Wonderful peaceful location, Every small detail taken care of,from providing hi vis jackets to reading matter,DVDs, even a piano.

Marvellous lady, Margaret had a hot breakfast for us when we arrived. Highly recommend a stay. Hope to return soon

We had a lovely week at the Dispensary very quiet and peaceful with fabulous owners Margaret and John nothing was to much trouble and they were always on hand if needed.

We hope to return for another week next year. Ray & Donna

The dispensary is a beautiful holiday home situated in the quiet and tranquil area called Inch.

It is fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. Margaret and John and friendly and helpful hosts there to greet you with a very welcomed fry pack which is perfect to start your holiday without having to organise food. Ideally situated for visiting many off the wonderful gardens and points off interest nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have come away feeling refreshed and rested. We can highly recommend The Dispensary as a wonderful getaway.

What an absolute gem!

The Dispensary was delightful. Margaret greeted us warmly and provided enough lovely fresh produce for several breakfasts. The accommodation is small, as expected, but it has absolutely everything you could need, including a stream running nearby, tranquility and birdsong. In addition to a comfortable warm bed and enough mod cons to make life easy it was perfect.

We loved our stay at The Dispensary.

It was comfortable and had everything we needed. Despite the cool weather the heater in the sittingroom heated the whole place and we didn't need the bedroom heater. Margaret very kindly and generously provided us with some delicious soda bread and good Irish butter and some other foodstuffs. There's plenty to see locally and we would certainly come back for another stay.

Margaret goes above and beyond to make her guests feel comfortable.

Highly recommended.

Wonderful peaceful idillic friendly A little piece of heaven Relaxing Just what we needed Very central to all the attractions Beaches clean Sea clean Definitely coming back

You gave an amazing place there Margaret and John and should be very proud of it.

Location, cleanliness and pet friendly what more can you ask for. The breakfast hamper waiting for you is a lovely idea and takes away that initial rush of having to go shopping in the morning. Thank you again for a lovely stay and hopefully will see you again next year.

Margaret , John and family were brilliant hosts, welcoming and friendly.

On arrival we were provided with a fantastic breakfast pack which included a homemade loaf and a jar of homemade jam The Dispensary was an ideal base for our little adventure in Ireland and we have no problem recommending it to others.

I cannot recommend Margret and John's cottage highly enough.

Set in a beautiful village next to a bubbling river. They were really great hosts and the breakfast pack was excellent. It was a lovely stay and we had summer weather in November a nice plus to a great visit.

Ideal holiday accommodation for the single traveller, or couple that offers great value.

Margaret & John were the ideal hosts, and their welcoming food package was more than generous, and very much appreciated. My first choice in this area for a peaceful holiday, and most heartily recommended.

This was the second time I stayed at the Dispensary.

The proprietors were both, lovely, generous, and caring people. This is the place to stay if you seek a quiet, peaceful retreat. The cottage was comfortable and spotless. All cooking facilities, delph, etc , were provided. A most generous supply of food was supplied. My acid test of a place is: will I return? I certainly hope to do so DV.

We had a great holiday in The Dispensary.

Margsret and John were so kind and welcoming and of course her breakfast pack lasted us the week. Her jam and brown bread were beautiful and we slept very well in comfortable bed.She thought of everything and tevarea is so good for birds deer and biodiversity. We will come back again as it's a great place to visit the attractions of Fota Cobh experience Midleton and Ballycotton Ballimaloe Shanagarry and beach at Garryvoe.Thank you Margaret and John for everything.

My wife and I chose the dispensary as a location to celebrate our 20th anniversary and it it proved ideal .

We recieved a warm welcome from Margaret and John the owners who provided us with great local information and places of interest. Margaret had supplied us with a welcome breakfast pack 2nd to none free range eggs ,bacon back +streaky ,sausages, tomatoes +mushrooms, teabags butter and a homemade wheaten loaf and jam which was delicious. The property itself is set in an absolutely beautiful little spot beside a babbling stream and fantastically quiet, with all you could possibly need for comfortable enjoyable stay .located perfectly to see around this beautiful part of Ireland . The highest compliment we can pay the dispensary and its owners is that we didn't want to leave .

Wonderful stay at the dispensery Margarete and John are great hosts the cottage is first class and well kept and as pets are welcome we had a great time hope to return Frank and Patricia and Oscar the dog

Mrs Walsh is a fantastic host,so helpful.

She gave us a breakfast starter pack including home made bread and Jam. Its these personal touches that made our stay outstanding. The Dispensary is located in a tranquil setting next to a small river with lots of birdsong. Top tip:Bring some aeroplane type eye shades with you as its very bright in the mornings because of the Velux windows.

Margaret was the perfect host.

Homemade bread and jam welcomed us into a little piece of heaven on earth. The breakfast stored in the fridge and cooked by ourselves, after Mass at the local church, was scrumptious. The silence of the place was only disturbed by the gurgling of the river that runs through the village. We will certainly be returning here for our next holiday.

Our second visit to the dispensary and there is no doubt we will return

Absolutely fantastic.

Margaret and John are perfect hosts even providing breakfast goodies and the best bread and homemade jam EVER. The Dispensary is perfect for a relaxing peaceful break providing time to just recharge. Will definitely be back.

Margaret and John were lovely people who gave us privacy and yet we knew they were there if we needed anything.

It was a lovely touch to leave so much food for us in the fridge. The kitchen was well equipped. The overall space in the cottage is quite small, particularly the very basic toilet and shower facilities. It was a very pet-friendly place to stay although the back yard was not enclosed and we had to be careful not to let our dog off the lead at any time outside since there was a river right in front of the house. There was no WiFi or phone coverage, although it was being installed the day we left. The cottage itself has a great history, dating back to pre-famine times. It is a lovely place to stay for a quiet and relaxing week and a central location for exploring East Cork.

Really enjoyed our stay with Margaret and John Walsh….

from the minute we arrived we were made so very welcome. The fresh soda bread, homemade jam and everything for breakfast stocked in the fridge was fabulous. No WiFi was great as we could totally relax and unwind….the cottage is right next to a river…...lovely setting to relax in. Many Thanks for a fantastic stay

Amazing location, very comfortable bungalow, Margaret and John (owners of the Dispensary) are fantastic and very thoughtfull, lovely relaxing stay, and we will use Sykes again.

Thank you.

Was dissatisfied to find out that cottage was available for longer but Sykes was stating unavailable as owner stated this was not the first time customers had been told this

Due to a back issue, we had to cut the holiday short.

A huge disappointment, Cannot wait to return. The hosts are by far the most helpful and friendly that we have ever come across in numerous holidays. Could not have been more helpful, We highly recommend this welcoming retreat with its riverside view

Lovely house in a very remote setting which we knew and which was exactly what we wanted

Had a fantastic stay!

! Absolutely loved it!!

Wow where do I begin ,it was a suburb cottage and location , couldn't have been more welcomed by Margaret and John ,was greeted with a complete breakfast pack and fresh bread and homemade jam, something we have never received from anywhere else we have stayed .

It was a lovely cottage by a stream so pretty and peaceful we felt very rested and was great having chats with Margaret and John who always had time to chat, thank you to you both ,we will be back

Lovely clean Cottage.

Hosts were excellent and very helpful. Beautiful location. Idyllic for a peaceful get away.

We had a fabulous week!

The dispensary was a great base from which to visit all our favourite places ranging from Barleycove and Kinsale in Cork and over to Waterford. John and Margaret were extremely kind hosts and very helpful. Nothing was too much bother for them and they were on hand to give advice. eg we needed a new bulb for one of the headlights in our car and they helped us get that sorted. Would definitely recommend the Dispensary and also Sykes Holidays Cottages with whom we have now booked our holiday for four years in a row.:)

We enjoyed our very welcome to the house done by Mrs.

Welsh. Everything was fine and we would be happy to come again one day. Ernie, the house dog, we loved and every day we were looking forward to see him again. Amazing property to spend holiday, also in the crazy time of corona virus.

This is a lovely little cottage set in a really great little village.

With a small river at the front and small hills at the back,an ideal setting.Margaret and John are the most pleasant of people, nothing was too much trouble and we received the warmest of welcomes. The breakfast pack was most tasty and very appreciated. In all a most enjoyable time for our Irish visit.

Excellent cottage.

Excellent location. Excellent attention from owners. Excellent from start to finish.

We had a wonderful two week holiday at the Dispensary.

The village and the house are very nice, clean and quiet. Margaret and John Walsh, the owners who live nearby are very helpful and friendly, a big thank you to them. It is really the sort of place we like, it is only a pity that we live far from there (France). We are sure that, one day, we will fancy returning to the Dispensary. Jean-Paul and Marie-Thérèse Masse (+ Lollipop, our miniature dachshund), Esbly, France

Margaret and John are the most welcoming hosts and The Dispensary is a beautiful little cottage in a very idyllic location.

We had a really enjoyable holiday sightseeing around Counties Cork and Waterford and coming back each night to a very comfortable base.

Please remember that this cottage has no phone signal, or internet connection.

Great if you want to escape, but you need a car.

Owner extremely helpful and friendly.

Left us breakfast pack also some of her own homemade bread and jam, delicious. Our wee dog had a great time also.

The cottage was idyllic, inside and out!

Mrs Walsh left the nicest homemade bread and Jam and a breakfast pack ready for me. She was so welcoming. The cottage is spotless and really comfortable, and in a perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. There isn't any wifi and very poor phone signal, which I think helps to make this a perfect escape, and you only have to walk a couple of metres from the property to get signal anyhow! I would definitely recommend The Dispensary for people looking for a relaxing, comfortable break and to explore Cork. The family have restored the property beautifully, and its history is really interesting! Thanks!

We had a delightful stay at The Dispensary which is a perfect touring base for two.

The location is very quiet and peaceful. Everything that we needed for our stay was provided by the owner. Although there is no mobile signal or internet at the property, a good signal was available a short walking distance away.

What an amazing place, it has everything you could ask for (apart from a fireplace).

We wanted a place off the beaten track and this place was it (no telephone or internet) but still close enough to get to Cork with no hassles. The Hosts are so welcoming and even provided us with the ingredients for a full breakfast. We can see why the have won awards. Ps, go to the local bars and meet the locals. We had a great time.

The hosts Margaret and John are two wonderful people who cant do enough for you.

This was our third visit and it is like going back to old freinds! I am sure we will return again sometime.

There was no mobile signal so I didn’t think I would survive without it , but my week in the dispensary was majestic.

Sitting out in the Patio watching the Stars and Galaxies (I did not know you could actually see galaxies) was wonderous. The cottage has everything and more and the owner was very friendly. Also if you walk 100 yards up the hill you can get a mobile signal

There was hardly any network at all, so you could not contact family at home.

All good

If you’re looking for peace and quiet in a tranquil setting with friendly neighbours and their pets, you’ll find it here.

The cottage is set in a tiny village next to a church. It’s quiet, very quiet. You will definately need a car and the sat nav will never take you back to the village along the same road, and there are hundreds of roads. Tiny single tracks in some cases, some little more than footpaths which hardly ever see a car and which make for an interesting if sometimes frustrating journey! The cottage is clean, warm and cosy and the bed is comfortable, but if you are looking for five star accommodation, look elsewhere. This is a basic cottage with basic amenities, Somewhere to return to after a long day of touring. Keep that in mind and you will be more than happy. There are a number of typical Irish pubs with a mile or so but for eating out locally, find the Old Thatch. Highly recommended friendly pub offering good service, excellent food and drink and free WiFi.

I was in Ireland for work so found the cottage a great place for piece and quiet after a busy day.

Staying here gave me the freedom to cook for myself rather than eating out alone as well as seeing a little of the beautiful Irish countryside. I was made to feel very welcome. Great place to stay.

Margaret was extremely welcoming and we were very appreciative of the generous breakfast goodies

The merits of this accommodation are accurately well documented on sites such as Trip Advisor, and we fully endorse all the praise given.

The cottage is called The Dispensary and, although it is in Inch, Mrs Walsh goes the extra MILE to dispense a full Irish welcome and every comfort during their stay. There are also 2 canine residents, D'fer and Ernie, who 'paws' at the back door to greet you every morning. I did kiss the Blarney Stone, during our visit, but I really cannot lavish enough praise about this place. We were even snug and warm during a snow storm.

Lovely place, Inch is a tiny village around 25 miles from Cork city center.

Very peaceful environment. We arrived late on the 1st night, the host had turned on the electric blanket for us, and let us know where the keys would be. Actually felt like the price we paid was too cheap.

We have had a brilliant time in Ireland everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

Margaret and John are the loveliest hosts you could wish to meet with a fantastic breakfast pack on our arrival. We are already planning to return next year but maybe to Killarney. So if you have any propertieees that meets our needs please forward them on yours Cliff and Cath Daniels

We really enjoyed our stay in this very cosy and comfortable cottage with a "history.

" The owner was really welcoming and was on hand to sort out minor glitches. It was a restful stay in a pleasant spot, but close enough to Youghall and its shops and restaurants.

Beautiful area, quirky accommodation, wonderful owners, breakfast package provided.
