“Our visit to the Beach House was mixed, the weather really wasn't on our side which didn't help us 4 adults, appreciate the house fully.”

I also don't like to write reviews that aren't positive but I also like to be honest. Initial reactions were good, however, there really are things this "luxury" house needs to improve in our opinion. I would expect beds/ mattresses and pillows to have protectors on! It would be good to have double wardrobes in all the bedrooms, there is very limited storage place. Whilst there was multiple cutlery available, there were only 2 teaspoons. Some of the wooden utensils were very "worn", which can be easily and cheaply replaced. The lovely dinning table with seats for 6 but only had 5 place mats. We found the washing machine full of wet towels clearly not been emptied by the cleaner before she left. The fridge needed a clean before I put food in it, maybe that was just my standard of cleanliness, but it was all cracked! The freezer had no ice trays, so we had to go and buy bags of ice! The steps down to the beach, whilst we had read these were steep the clear path across the large boulders allowed access to the shore with ease, however the large prickly weeds along the steps made the climb up and down tricky and the broken fence at bottom indicated lack of care and attention. A little time spent removing and repairing wouldn't go a miss. The TV was hit and miss. On our arrival we couldn't watch at all and Elisha, the owner, who lives next door, swiftly came to sort out for us. The beach house guide book, lacks instructions, how to work the oven, hob, heating, even bin collection day. We read the reviews in the "guest book" in which some people had thanked the owners for their welcome pack. This is the first house/cottage where we have stayed at using the sykes website, where we haven't been greeted by a welcome pack, whilst we dont expect one these are such a nice token and a great way to promote the local area! To end on a positive because there are, the view of the ocean is amazing. The beds really are comfortable and we all agreed, 4 adults, we all slept amazingly and loved falling asleep and waking to the sound of the ocean. Great location for discovering East Ireland!
