“The property was more than we expected, the location was perfect situated right on the shoreline which was at the bottom of the garden.”

There was a picnic table and chairs right there when the weather was good you didn't feel the need to move anywhere else as the views where stunning. The house itself has been designed to make the most of the views with the living accommodation being upstairs with the added benefit of an upstairs patio off the lounge complete with gas barbecue and patio furniture, another encouragement not to go far. Great detail has been put into the furnishings and I got the feeling that an interior designer had been employed to ensure that the full potential of the house was achieved. Everything about it has been designed to make your stay there enjoyable. As for the area it must rate as one of the most beautiful areas of the British Isles with stunning beaches of white sand more often with hardly a sole on them and coastal scenery with sea cliffs coupled with majestic mountains. When needing help in asking directions or finding places the local people where more than helpful and very welcoming and polite. I can also recommend the boat trip across to Tory Island for a day out, we will hopefully return in the future.

There are several beautiful beaches around the area, and the village is home to the Samhain International Poetry Festival each year. From Gortahork, Glenveagh National Park is easily accessible for a great day out, and with 16,000 acres, it is a walker's paradise. The renowned artist Derek Hill bequeathed his house and gallery near Glenveagh along with his art collection to the nation in 1980, attached is Glebe Gallery and tea rooms which hosts many exhibitions.
