    “We immediately felt at home when we arrived.”

    The owner was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The washing machine wasn't working and she offered to do it for us. We were blown away with the views and waking up every day with the sheep for company was a real treat! I think we may be back and back again.

The village of Glencar is located right in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as The Kingdom. Glencar is a nature lover’s paradise surrounded by the mountain range Macgillycuddy Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Ireland’s highest mountain, majestically towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes, such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. An abundance of wild and birdlife can be found in the area, including pheasant, duck, wood pigeon, mink, fox, mountain hare, wild goat and sika deer. The village is home to three pubs, including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink, and a Post Office and food store. The pretty town of Killorglin, the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, is within easy reach, and offers a variety of cafés, pubs and restaurants, while an abundance of sandy beaches and golf courses are within easy driving distance.
