“On arrival our first impression was excellent in what appeared to be a “show home”.”

However, we were soon brought down to earth as we settled in. The refrigerator/freezer was in an awful condition with one chiller tray in the fridge missing and the second on tray holding up the bottom shelf. There was also bad stains on the interior. The freezer section was in need of defrosting and contained a substantial amount of food. Much of this food had already been opened and some was already past its use by date. Our next observations were in the three double bedrooms. All were fairly large and contained what appeared to be king sized beds. However, none contained a wardrobe of a chest on drawers. The only chest had three drawers and there was also a bad wardrobe both of which were in the spare room. This was sufficient for the two of us but was hardly suited to a party of six. We were unable to get the television to work despite receiving instructions from the owner. We could get radio programs but no pictures. It was not until three days later that a to repair man visited and explained that there should have been two remote controls when there was only one. The shower was described in the information pack was described as “walk-in” when a better description would have been “squeeze in”. Added to this was the fact that when used there was cold water pouring from a hole in the bottom of the unit. A plumber was called and visited on the Saturday morning but could not fix the problem until Monday as the shower unit needed replacing. The final straw for us was on the Monday afternoon when we were invaded by an infestation of flying ants in the lounge. This was most distressing and we requested that someone visited to sort the problem. In the mean time we used the vacuum cleaner to remove what we could. The owners husband arrived an hour or so later with his son bringing with them a variety of ant repelling products. This along along with their comments suggested that this was not the first time that this problem had occurred.
