“A cosy Irish cottage which has been extended in a quiet location.”

A car is essential. A perfect location for hikers, walkers and anyone who wants a quiet get away. Close to Cronin's Yard, the Gap of Dunloe and Kate Kearney's for food. Kissane's local store is a short trip down the road from the cottage. The owner had all the essentials on site and some nice treats which is great for late evening arrivals. Four of us stayed in the cottage over the weekend 8-10 March 2024.

This tasteful cottage welcomes a family of six, or a group of sharing friends for a relaxing, fuss-free escape to the beautiful Irish countryside.

Nestled in the quaint townland of Carranahone, this property is located in Beaufort, a short drive from the McGillycuddy Reeks and the Gap of Dunloe.

This property has panoramic views of Beaufort Village and further into Killorglin and Castlemaine Harbour.

To the back of the property, there are breathtaking views of the McGillycuddy Reeks, including Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain and Strikeen, which on the other side holds the Gap of Dunloe.

These views can be enjoyed with the outdoor seating on the patio.

Park up off-road, unpack your belongings and make yourself at home in your lovely new dwelling.

Get to work in the fully-equipped kitchen, where you'll find everything you need to prepare a delicious, home-cooked meal for the whole group to savour gathered around the dining table.

When your bellies are full, kick back and unwind in the sitting room, where you and your loved ones can stick a film on the Smart TV as you're kept warm and toasty by a centrepiece electric fire.

As day rolls into night, refresh with a rejuvenating shower on your way to settle down for a well-earned rest in any of the three inviting bedrooms.

After you've finished your morning coffee outdoors whilst soaking in your tranquil new surroundings, lace up your shoes and head out to explore what your local area has to offer.

The property is very close to the Ring of Kerry route, a short drive to the foot of the McGillycuddy Reeks, while the Gap of Dunloe is also a brief trip by car.

Killarney town and all it has to offer is just a short distance further, so while this property is in the quiet countryside, it is a perfect base for exploring what Kerry has to offer.

For a day out in nature, embark on a scenic stroll along the Tomies Woodland Trail towards the waterfall of O'Sullivans Cascade which sits on the edge of the magnificent Lough Lean.

Across the water, the town of Killarney awaits, where you can meander around the greens of Killarney National Park.

Take a ride in a jaunting car, visit the historical sites of Ross Castle, Innisfallen Island and Muckross House, just to name a few.

There is a shop Kissane’s Food Store, a mile from the house, which is always well-stocked of all the essentials.

Nearby, Beaufort village holds another shop, three bars and one restaurant.

The world famous Kate Kearney’s Cottage is located in the Gap of Dunloe, which has traditional Irish music nightly during the summer season.

All of this and so much more are waiting to be enjoyed during your stay at Sweeney's Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of €200.
