    “The Hideaway was the perfect getaway.”

    We enjoyed the tranquility of the location. Very quiet and literally next to the lake from multiple viewpoints. Waking up we could look right on the lake without getting out of bed. The house itself had all the right touches - perfect for the two of us and our 4 legged friend. The owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I would happily recommend this spot to others - and return in the future. Thank you so much Helen!

The town of Ballinrobe is 3 miles away with its many pubs, shops and restaurants. Travel to the nearby village of Cong, an idyllic setting, home to Ashford Castle and haven for holidaymakers and visitors. Explore further afield through the Maamturk mountains and arrive at Leenane and Killery Harbour on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is here that the mighty Atlantic Ocean cuts a deep fiord into the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking. Spend a day in Westport, the bustling oasis in the west and savour its beautiful craft shops, restaurants and cafes. Ballinrobe is a lively market town on the River Robe in County Mayo, close to Lough Mask, Lough Carra and Lough Corrib. Geographically, it is ideally located as a touring base for those wishing to explore Galway, Mayo and west Ireland. Dating back to the 1300s, Ballinrobe is believed to be the oldest town in South Mayo, and is surrounded by many features of archaeological, architectural, historic and ecological interest. Ballinrobe is known as the lake angling centre of the west, and with 60,000 acres of lough fishing, and miles of river fishing close by, it is easy to see why, plus the town offers a championship 18 hole golf course and spring and summer horse racing meetings.
