Offering off-road parking, beautiful views across Lough Mask and a peaceful setting surrounded by mountains and woodland, Mayfly Cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, families, friends or anyone looking to experience the beauty of the west of Ireland.

A short drive brings you to the historic village of Cong, home to the magnificent Ashford Castle, the ancient Cong Abbey and the filming location of *The Quiet Man*, as well as charming cafés and scenic riverside walks.

Within an hour’s drive, you’ll find both the vibrant coastal town of Westport and the lively city of Galway.

Westport offers colourful streets, independent shops, excellent restaurants, traditional pubs, the scenic Great Western Greenway and breathtaking views of Croagh Patrick, while Galway City invites you to explore its historic streets, the lively Latin Quarter, Galway Cathedral, a vibrant arts scene and an excellent selection of restaurants and traditional pubs.

Venture deeper into Connemara to discover Leenane (26km) and Ireland’s only fjord and further on, the charming town of Clifden (60km) , known as the Capital of Connemara’, with its welcoming cafés, boutique shops, seafood restaurants and spectacular coastal scenery.

If you fancy a trip to the Aran Islands, we’re about 50km from Rossaveel where there is a regular ferry to and from Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran islands.

The traditional village of Clonbur is located between Lough Mask and Lough Corrib in County Galway. Offering a small selection of shops and pubs, it retains a distinctly Irish feel with its own unique character and charm. There are a number of places of interest to visit in the surrounding area, including Ross Hill Abbey, Ballykine Castle and Lough Coolin. For walkers and hikers, the imposing Mount Gable offers one of Ireland’s most scenic mountain walks, with the trail beginning less than 2 miles from Clonbur. The nearby village of Cong is well worth a visit and is famed as the setting for the John Wayne movie, ‘The Quiet Man’. It is also home to Ashford Castle with its magnificent architecture, fine dining and sprawling golf course. Loughs Corrib and Mask are world-renowned for trout and salmon fishing and boats and guides are available locally. Clonbur makes an ideal base for exploring other attractions in the area such as Galway City, the Connemara National Park and Clew Bay to the north.
