Fantastic holiday, great weather, loved the house and location, very private , but near enough for places to eat , The near by town Bantry is less than 5 miles away , some beautiful scenery, we did not want to leave , the hosts Joe & Mary were lovely , would defiantly do a return visit ,

“A traditonal cottage in a lovely location near to the charming town of Bantry.”

This location is adjoining a farm but only 1/2 mile from the main road which gives you easy access to the beautiful contrasting peninsulas of Mizen Sheeps and Beara.

“A Beautiful Cottage, with everything we could of asked for inside.”

The house guide was very easy to help us get comfortable with our surroundings, and was explained is a great way. The kitchen got the most praise out of our group, the appliances offered allowed for some easy and quick cooking. The surroundings where peaceful, the home was warm. There are some amazing scenic drives at your feet.

“Aunties is a very spacious cottage with really interesting features.”

The cooking facilities look odd but were in fact very easy to use. It's also in a really good location for visiting places in the Southwest of Ireland. The owners live nearby and were really helpful and friendly. It's not suitable for people with mobility issues as there are stairs and a few other steps. We really enjoyed our 4 night stay there and could gave done longer.

“Great care was given to preserve some of the original features of the Cottage while giving it updated comforts.”

The drive up the hill to the cottage provided one of the most beautiful sites I've seen in Ireland. It was an overlook onto Bantry Bay. My hosts' written instructions were more accurate than my GPS. Well worth the drive up the hill.

“We had a really nice time at the cottage.”

It's a lovely spot in beautiful surroundings. The cottage itself is clean and comfortable and has everything you need. Mary and Joe were very helpful and considerate hosts. The hob stopped working at one point and they immediately came around with a replacement. We had excellent weather and greatly appreciated being able to sit and eat outside. Also, the neighbours' dogs are very friendly - no problem coming here with children! Thanks, Mary and Joe, we'd love to come back at some point!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet area the only thing I'd say is really could do with better cooking facilities in the kitchen a cooker would be a great idea other than that it is a beautiful cottage so cosy looking forward to getting back in spring summer time

However there was only one shower working and there definitely is no oven., even though I was told by your staff there was. The location was a bit hard to get to and not really walkable to pubs etc. however we still had a pleasant time therr

“Aunties is a good sized cottage set amidst two working farms.”

The house has a basic charm with the fire helping to bring a little cosiness to the evenings. The outside area is better suited to older children as it is open and unfenced in parts. Aunties is well located to explore the surrounding coastal area, and villages and towns.

“The property was charmingly rustic and very clean, it sits amid a working farm.”

Situated between Bantry and Glengarriff, the location is ideal for people wanting to be just outside a town in a tourist area. The listing was slightly inaccurate, there was not an electric oven, instead we had access to a microwave and a 2 ring hob that sits on top of the kitchen counter. The downstairs shower was broken on arrival, this wasn't a problem for us and we're sure it will be repaired when possible. The garden was in honesty disappointing, it was not private, nor was it an acre. Our children were chased on one occasion by 2 large neighbouring dogs on the lawn directly outside the house. We could not recommend it for families with children anticipating a safe outdoor space. The bedrooms were well positioned and the larger room had plenty of storage space, however the mattresses were rather uncomfortable.

Comfortable beds, lovely linens. The shower was a bit problematic but the host came and sorted it out quickly - they are very caring people and have put a lot of thought and care into making the cottage a great place to spend a week!

The property

Farmhouse is a charming retreat near the village of Ballylickey on the shores of Bantry Bay. Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing meals to be enjoyed in the dining room, warmed by the glow of the woodburning stove.

Alternately it can be enjoyed on the timber decking if weather permits. The “dairy” with its two rocking chairs has some books and children’s games for your rainy day activities. The utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer ensuring all your laundry needs are catered for during your stay. The sitting room provides a warm and inviting space to unwind after a day’s exploring. The property boasts two inviting double bedrooms, offering a peaceful retreat to rest and rejuvenate.

The shower room with large walk-in shower serves both bedrooms.

Downstairs you also have an electric shower and w.c. Outside you will find lots of lawn space to the front and side of the house.

The higher lawn to the side has a fabulous view out over Bantry Bay and Whiddy island.

Here you will see the stables with some horses and foals. The decking with its table and chairs gets the sun in the morning and during the day, and makes it ideal for outdoor dining, while the small patio area in the front lawn is ideal to relax and soak up the evening sun while listening to the sounds of the countryside.

During the summer months make your way to Snave beach or Snave pier where you can enjoy a swim in the wild Atlantic Ocean. Your relaxing retreat awaits you at Aunties offering a perfect balance between peaceful rejuvenation and coastal adventure.

Ballylickey is a popular tourist town situated between Bantry Town and Glengarriff at the heart of the magnificent Bantry Bay, which has become known throughout the world for its stunning scenery and unspoilt environment.There is a large supermarket, deli, hardware, petrol station and ATM at Cronin’s to cater for your every need. You also have a pub serving food and drink as well as Mannings Emporium and Seaview House hotel. Eagle Point Caravan park is across the road from the supermarket. South west of Ballylickey is the beautiful Sheep's Head and "Goats Path" while just five minutes away, to the north-west is the magnificent Beara Peninsula, with its ruggedness, mystery and the Hungry Hill. Venture to Bantry, which has a weekly Friday market, lots of shops and supermarkets, library, beach and pier. Bantry is well served by two hotels with swimming pools, and you will be spoiled for choice with restaurants, pubs, and take away all serving the best in food and refreshments.
