The mighty River Moy, world renowned for its salmon fishing can be heard nearby as it meanders towards the sea at Ballina.

It passes by the Foxford Woollen Mills, a well known tourist attraction where you will browse the wonderful craft shop and relax in the adjoining restaurant.

Take the short trip to Ballina and on to neighbouring Enniscrone, where the wild Atlantic breeze will colour your cheeks as you walk the stunning beach.

Travel to the county town of Castlebar for a days shopping and further on to Westport, an oasis in the west and home to many traditional pubs and restaurants.

Visit the nearby Museum of Country Life at Turlough, Castlebar and learn about past generations as they toiled the land.

Return to Foxford for an evening of relaxation, dine in the local restaurants or enjoy a glass with the locals in the pub.

Foxford is a delightful town situated on the River Moy in County Mayo. Foxford is well known as a tourist centre and has a variety of traditional pubs, restaurants and shops. Nestled between the Ox and Nephin Mountains, the town caters for a range of outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking and fishing. The Foxford Way is a 53 mile long trail which takes in the Ox Mountains, archaeological sites, boglands and river banks. For fishing enthusiasts, the River Moy offers some of Ireland's best salmon fishing, whilst nearby Loughs Conn and Cullin provide opportunities for brown trout fishing. Foxford is ideally located for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, either going west to Erris to explore it's beautiful rugged coastline, take in a visit to Ceide Fields Centre, Downpatrick Head or head east towards Enniscrone and other Sligo towns. Enniscrone has a beautiful beach and all the facilities of a resort town. Further afield are the towns of Ballina, Castlebar and Sligo, the Ballycroy National Park and Achill Island, all suitable for a day trip.
