“Beautiful cottage with great views of the mountains and close to the lake.”

Caroline and Tony were wonderful hosts. Very helpful giving us tips for some walks close by and places for me to buy some wintery gear / footwear. They very kindly invited us into their home for a drink on Christmas morning when we took them a cheesecake which made our Christmas as we were sad to be having to spend it away from our families as we had originally planned! We will definitely return in the future hopefully under different circumstances and in warmer months when we can hopefully ...

We will definitely return in the future hopefully under different circumstances and in warmer months when we can hopefully explore some of the mountain walks a little more. As stated on the listing, there is no wifi in the cottage and very little phone signal as the walls are so thick. We have managed to overcome this by placing one of our phones outside in a plastic bag and hot spotting our other devices from that. Other facilities in the cottage are great, we've loved having the fire going each evening although we haven't really needed it for warmth as the underfloor heating works really well. The kitchen is great, plenty of space and well equipped with an oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher (I love cooking so this is perfect for me). There was even a washing machine for us to wash our clothes in which we were very pleased about as we have gotten a bit muddy on some of the walks and due to our circumstances (waiting to fly to Australia) don't have many warm clothes with us. We absolutely loved staying at Kylebeg Cottage, it was like a home away from home and was exactly what we needed over the festive period. The only problems we encountered were with Sykes Cottages when trying to extend our stay other than that it was a very pleasant experience.

The property

Located a mile from the village of Lackan in the picturesque countryside of County Wicklow is this delightful, detached holiday cottage.

Adjacent to the welcoming owners' own property and smallholding, this Lackan cottage dates back to the 1800s, and while the exterior retains its traditional charm, the interior has been lovingly renovated to a modern standard.

This County Wicklow cottage boasts a number of desirable features; from the open plan living area with its woodburning stove, to the two cosy double bedrooms offering comfortable sleeping accommodation.

Resting at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains, lovers of the great outdoors will enjoy walks from the doorstep up into the fabled hills, or perhaps to the nearby Blessington Lakes where the more adventurous can canoe, sail or windsurf on the water.

If you fancy a pint of the black stuff after a good walk, the village of Lackan boasts a local pub, while a greater choice of pubs, shops and restaurants awaits you in the larger town of Blessington a little further afield.

Ireland's capital, Dublin, is just a short drive away, where you can enjoy the hustle and bustle, as well as the culture, of a modern major European city.
