Why book a cottage in County Antrim?

Located in Northern Ireland and encompassing most of the city of Belfast, County Antrim is a beautiful region that is steeped in history. Its magnificent coastline stretches for miles against the Atlantic Ocean and is partly made up of the Giant’s Causeway, a World UNESCO Heritage Site. Around 40,000 basalt columns appear to rise out of the sea - the result of volcanic activity tens of millions of years ago. The swell of the waves off the coast makes this area very popular with surfers and there are also some great opportunities for scuba diving. Close to the coast you can also find Portrush golf course. Often voted one of the world's best golf courses, Portrush has hosted the Irish Open and the Open Championship.  

The Antrim Coast is also designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and contains the Glens of Antrim, nice stunningly beautiful valleys spread out over a 20km radius. This whole area is fantastic for walking and hiking and you may see some sights and attractions that you recognise from TV! Some scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed here and locations include The Dark Hedges and Cushendun Caves. County Antrim is also home to Ireland’s largest lake, Lough Neagh.
