Why book a cottage in County Tipperary?
These County Tipperary cottages are not that far away - unlike the old British music hall song would have you think! And what a gem this landlocked county is. Known as Ireland’s Golden Vale, County Tipperary is a mass of rolling green countryside, valleys, mountains and lakes. The Glen of Aherlow and the Vee Valley are especially breathtaking and wonderful spots for walking.
Dotted around the region are some lovely towns and villages. Visit Cashel to see the celebrated Rock of Cashel, a cluster of medieval buildings on a limestone. It is a spectacular sight not to be missed. Cahir, meanwhile, is an attractive town famous for its splendid and beautifully preserved castle, complete with towers and moat. The town square is crammed with cafés and pubs, while there are lovely walks along the riverside.
Other attractions in the county include Holycross Abbey and the Main Guard in Clonmel. Then there's the medieval walled town of Fethard and the town of Roscrea, laden with Monastic and Norman buildings - don't miss Roscrea Castle and Damer House.
